#HGCRETREAT Recap: A Weekend in Boulder!
We’d like to thank the generous sponsors of our inaugural #HGCRETREAT, who are mentioned throughout this post, for contributing product, services and/or swag bag items to our attendees. You helped make this day even more special!
Ahhh…we are feeling so refreshed after a fabulous weekend connecting with our #HGCcommunity at the end of September. We brought 14 girls together for our first-ever #HGCRETREAT and made more memories than we can count. In a world that’s often entirely digital, we are so grateful for these in-person moments that bring our mission to life in new and meaningful ways.
Our top goals for this retreat were to cultivate connection and take time for self-care, and boy did our day deliver!
We started off our morning mingling at Alpine Modern Cafe, sipping on hot tea and coffee to get us energized for the activities ahead. The group enjoyed a satisfying plant-based breakfast of granola and almond milk yogurt contributed by Purely Elizabeth and Kite Hill. As the attendees trickled in, we passed out our incredible Under Armour swag bags filled with new products to try and Healthy Glow Co. gear we created just for this event and for our ambassadors.
We also had everyone introduce themselves and WHY they came to the event. We had attendees who traveled from all corners of the U.S. (not to mention our lucky #GlowGoodChallenge winner) in all different professions and lifestyles with one common goal: to take time for themselves while connecting with other women who wanted to do the same. This is really the essence of the #HGCcommunity and it warmed our hearts to see such fast friendships develop. While we put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into planning an eventful day, it was the people in our group who made it what it was and we are so grateful for each person who joined us that Saturday!
Admittedly, we had been a bit nervous about the day of the event because rain was in the forecast. Of course, we could always tap our fabulous personal trainer Kathryn who developed the fitness portion of our HGG STRONG program to lead us in a group workout, but we were really hoping for some fresh Colorado air. Luckily, the weather was on our side and it wasn’t long before our bodies got warm and moving that despite the morning chill we found ourselves stripping off layers! After a few miles, we stopped to enjoy some Lorissa’s Kitchen protein snacks they sent as an extension of our #HGCBOOTCAMP.
At this point, we had definitely worked up an appetite which was a good thing because we had a 5-course meal waiting for us at Food Lab Boulder. Of course, we had to work for it! The chefs divided us up into four groups who were each responsible for preparing each recipe we would be enjoying for lunch. These recipes were all plant-based and a sneak peek at a new program we’ll be launching in January! All attendees even got to take these recipes home with them, so they’ll be savoring meals like Easy Vegetarian Tikka Masala, Chopped Moroccan Broccoli Chickpea Salad, Slow Cooker Spanish Butternut Squash Lentil Soup, Shredded Brussels and Kale Salad with Apples, Pecans and Goat Cheese, and Lemon Chia Energy Truffles for months to come. This was a really fun team building and get to know each other activity! It was fun to see how each group had their own take on the same recipe and it was really special to all sit down as a group and enjoy a family style lunch to taste each other’s creations.
Boulder ended up being the perfect location for a day-long retreat because most of our activities took place along the Pearl Street Mall. We got plenty of walking in! Next up, was a unique beauty experience at MUD Facial Bar where they promise to #cleanyourdirtyface. They had plenty of plays on words, and this was truly one of the most relaxing parts of the day. This activity ended up taking a lot longer so while we encouraged the group to go out and shop on Pearl Street, almost everyone ended up staying in the cozy spa space to continue chatting. We think this is a testament to how truly special and close-knit our group was! Plus, we included some extra 1:1 time with Monique and Lee so anyone could get feedback on personal experiences or ask individualized health or business-related questions! Of course, we couldn’t help continuing to snack and broke out our partner Blue Diamond Almonds’ yummy sweet chocolate and coconut flavored almonds which were a huge hit.
By the time we headed to dinner, the ponchos we had packed came in handy! What a sight it probably was to see a big group of girls roaming the streets all dressed alike. We capped the night with a celebratory dinner and drinks at The Med where everyone got to order off the menu and hear a few final words from our team. This was truly a special event we’ll never forget, and our fabulous photographer Brooke was there to capture it all.
This was a very FULL week with our retreat, our HGG STRONG program launch and a photo shoot for our January release, but we wouldn’t have it any other way.
We’d like to extend a huge thank you to all of our brand partners who helped fuel and dress our fabulous crew, which (in addition to those mentioned above) included it Bed, Theo Chocolate and Kodiak Cakes.
And, be sure to check out our photo album on Facebook for more snapshots of the event!
